Roses to the Fir

As I said, here are the color pictures slected from the Roses to the Fir photoshoot.
Just to remember that skirt an cape are designed and made by The Bronze Medal for The Mesh Label Collection. The grey chiffon skirt is already sold and the pale linen cape is not for selling at the moment, but you can still have a look at the online shop and see if something else fits with your style! And also that all pictures are made by Del Yelmo Photography, The Bronze Medal apparetly official photograper!

It was funny, this weekend i met the gork who bought the skirt and she wore it last week twice! happy about her delight wearing it, and she also mentioned that some guy told her "I can see you". Yeah,"I can see you too" I said. That is the Mesh Label Collection philosophy.

RUN RUN RUN

It is, in efect, very weird also for me to be posting this gif plus a song and the lyrics in a joy spirit, but f*ck it, just some fun!  Such fun as we had making the full shooting.

Marguerita Passion had to get her fix
She wasn't well, she was getting sick
Went to sell her soul, she wasn't high
Didn't know, thinks she could buy it
And she would run, run, run, run, run
Take a drag or two
Run, run, run, run, run
Gypsy Death and you
Tell you whatcha do
Seasick Sarah had a golden nose
Hobnail boots wrapped around her toes
When she turned blue, all the angels screamed
They didn't know, they couldn't make the scene
She had to run, run, run, run, run
Take a drag or two
Run, run, run, run, run....

Whatever comes next, comes in blue

Still not 100% sure about the next pieces coming out from The Bronze Medal Apparel and The Mesh Label Collection, buy by now I can tell there is gonna be a lot of blue! These are not gonna become into winter garments, rather in somethig that on the business they call Collection Crucero in the sense of between seasons. In this case, I would say it might be a new experiment, new attemps to get somewhere else, with colors. As usual, I did not think about it, i just follow impulses, get inspiration from textures, thikness and thinness, tact, light and darkness...anf from there, work on shapes.

Cotton, wool, lurex, polyester, metal. All tones of blue. Flat and print. Not navy but yes swinging on a north-coast image, probably mixed with deep green in some cases. Will see.

I loved the result from The Amphibian photoshoot, for example, all bluish. So probably that was already the precedent. How knows, I cannot tell.

Inspiration I

The  Mesh Label Collection is based in a few rules, let's say. The foundation is the material. The principles are: at its 75% pale colors as white, grey, or pale pink and the use of all kind of clear, translucent, lucid, crystallin, vitreous, thin, sheer fabrics or materials. The lines and patterns are simple. The Mesh Label Collection is proclaims minimal outfits.
It was actually a lucky find, unexpected. I never thought about all this until I started to work on other stuff, and I found how meaningful this kind of materials are.

So, all this just to show some interesting pieces from other designers. I already knew Paskal and Seiya Chen (thanks to Susie Bubble and her blog), but thanks to Not Just a Label (community that I am about to join soon) I recently met This is the Uniform, a UK based new brand, pretty interesting silk pieces that I appreciate.

Sometimes I think that if I am trying to make a wearable clothing for women, transparent garments are maybe a bit too much, and that it is just possible on catwalks and so on, but no, is really pleasant to see how many other designer interpretate this and theis proposals to the real day-by-day apparel. Now i think is just a matter of time maybe, that we get use to this kind of clothes by introducing little by little some pieces and combinig with also other clothes underneath, for example, because it is not all about showing your body.

I also have to say, that I did not get inspired by any of these designs and graphics, I just found them similar, so I chose them for this first post about inspiration. By now my only inspiration are the materials I find. By now I work on materials that I randomly find, not on planned desings.

The Mesh Label Collection

This shorts are made by white net fabric (initially courtains fabric) and the graphics on the bottoms are pieces cutted out of potatoes mesh bag, material that brought the inspiration for the name of this clothing line.

The Amphibian

My friend came from London to participate in a performances festival happening in Berlin in the month of may. So we could not miss the chance to have some bright and awesome pictures with her wearing some pieces from The Mesh Label Collection. She and photographer got really into it, and we were done in about 20 minutes !!

This post is about the sea, about the sea in clear and shiny summer. About fishes and about sunbathe. But it is more than that, and it has deeper meaning.

In Wikipedia -> Greek ἀμφí, amphi, "both" + βíος, bios, "life".
So it is about this two possibilities of life as well. And so about the metamorphosis that they experience. I found their "story" quite interesting. Amphibians were the first vertebrates to adapt to a life semiterrestrial. And because of that, they have been, let's say, changing.  Their evolution never stop and i would dare to say it will not, they might resist life on an hypothetically planet almost covered by water, for example.

Their skin is the key: with no hair, it protects them from sun abrasion, absorve and release water, and contributes through pigmentation changes and the secretion of substances through this, the control of body temperature. And, of course, something that we all know, that skin often acts as a defense or deterrent against predators, possessing a number of poison glands or warning pigmentation.

Short, the amphibians are a huge source of artistic inspiracióbn in all areas, I believe it is possible to express these capabilities and features that these animals have, in many media and formats, and perform analogies. Working on that !!!

You might remember the top, already used the top for The Lazy post. It is white net and has a dyed frayed jean pocket at the left side.
She took the leggins with her because they looked were ment to her body, so not available anymore, but you can still get the original and unique top HERE ! and combine it everytime in a different way. Surprise yourself wearing transparent this summer! Here in north Europe you have to be sure to make the most on the warm weather, and so with the warm-side of your wardrobe. It is not a delicate piece, so you can wear it for the beach, the mountain....everywhere !

The Mexican

Everybody looks for inpiration, does not matter where, but sometimes you just start to work on something without it, just like there is some force that makes you start and keep on; sometines you see some material that brings you a hidden inspiratiopn, and then, when you are done, and you see the result, all together, as an unity, you say "oooh, right" and you are able then to recognize details, reminiscences, to somethings that you even did not hink about in the begining. I love that way of working. And that is exactly what happened here.

You already saw this skirt before, combined with a jersey made from the same fabric like this bustier. Is unbelieveable how differetn it can look, just changing the top of the outfit. But anyway, I think both combos have a common countryside-rural-pulse on it, don't you think?

Bustier in the begining was just made for the photoshoot, as an experimental design, so not available in the online shop by now, but many people are loving it, so I am thinking about making some more with different colors, and patterns... Skirt is already sold out.

Intercom Telephone

We had the possibility to make a photoshoot at a really old friends house, and we found really sprecial to make a vintage style, set on the 70s.

I chose this white outfit because I think it is more than suited to the wallpaper-door-intercome corner we chose,  and how the pictures were gonna be taken.

I think it all came together synergistically in a spectacular way, almost natural. Going to be, in principle, almost anything improvised, to be a perfectly designed bearing.

You maybe find this two-pieces outfit familiar, and you are right, it is the white version of this. And, as you see too, i combined this jersey with a long dress yesterday, on this post.

And so, as well, now you can have it HERE ! It is a piece that people is interested on quite a lot, but some of them find it a bit expensive, and I just say: anyone else is gonna wear the same as you. I was checking the prices on the "megacorporation" brands, those who make uniforms for us, so that we look exactly the same, and so we can feel we belong to soemthing, or whatever, and those prices are exactly same, and with some pieces higher. I say "look, i am my own boss, I dont want to be the worst boss in the world and exploit myself and pay myself ridiculous amount of money for my work.

It is our decission, but we should think about all this a litte longer, from time to time. At the end, a person who questions my job, is not the customer I want, because he/she can not appreciate things.

The Lazy

I did it. I stood in bed longer than expected. Alarm supposed to ring at 8:30am, I might had just turn it off and keep on with my dreams. I guess my body was like "ok, yeah, f*uck you, i need to rest properly" after the last hardcore days, full of stress, work, activity and with no much time for relaxing. But it is over now, gotta get into work hard, for the whole weekend, nonstop.

For those lucky ones who can have a proper rest, and stay longer in bed, please, ENJOY IT!
Summer is here already, isn't it?

Now listetning....

Black tassels all around the neck, black-and-transparent stripes elastic on sleeves, waists and legs. Made by The Bronze Medal, for The Mesh Label Collection.

Seeing the result, after all the work, makes it worth it and gives me energy to get ready for a new one tomorrow. I'll keep you up to date with a couple of pictures on twitter. Stay tunned!

Start my modest Way

No more "coming soon", now here comes the first post!

When you start with the plan of developing a clothing line, you have loads of ideas about what you wanna make and what you do not wanna make; what kind of materials and patters you are going to put together.

When you start with the plan of developing your own business, everything is a mess, you need to create your organization system and you do not know where to start. Besides the communication and promotion or the selling attempt, first of all comes the image you want to show. And so this is mainly the reason why the first post of yuor blog is kinda complicated.

At least, this is the way I see all this right now.

Having no idea about the formal or popular or common or most normal way to star here with this, I will just start my modest way. And for that,
I have to explain why I chose The Bronze Medal as a brand name.

As Wikipedia explains, bronze is an alloy consisting primarily copper, usually with tin as the main additive.
The introduction of bronze was significant, constituting the most innovative alloy in technological history of mankind.

Bronze has been used in the manufacture of medals, and now the bronze medal is known for being awarded to the third-runner up in sporting competitions and other events. And is really interesting to find out that, the usage was in part attributed to the choices of gold, silver, and bronze, to represent the three Ages of Man in Greek Mythology: The Golden Age, when men lived among the gods; The Silver Age, where youth lasted a hundred years as children without growing up, then suddelnly aged and died; and the Bronze age, the era of heroes. Modern historians categorize the Golden Age and Silver Age as mythical, but consider the Bronze Age and Iron Age historically valid.

So the idea of the bronze as the third price is an interesting meaning in contrast of its historical meaning. I think that idea is pretty much what The Bronze Medal wants to develop, because The Bronze Medal is not an ambitious brand in the sense of reaching as much public as possible, not following established trends but the style lines, and that is reflected in the designs.

The Bronze Medal dicides by now in two, The Bronze Medal Apparel and The Mesh Label Collection. And in none of them are forced movements, uncolntrolled ambitions, there are just ideas still developing every day, seeing the progression in every piece.

As the Age of Bronze, the age of heroes, no gods, just powerful humans, The Bronze Medal looks for bringing this power from your the inside to your outside. I hope it can reach that goal.
